We are looking for candidates who would be interested in working in the recycling and environmental sustainability industry. This position is responsible for carrying out all activities necessary to ensure the safe loading, sorting and unloading of scrap metal. You will also organise material to ensure good standards of housekeeping are met. Working in our Huddersfield site, the successful candidate will be part of a team working under the supervision of a knowledgeable and supportive Site Manager.
Key Crane Driver Responsibilities
1. Ensure vehicles are loaded and unloaded in a safe and proper manner
2. Safely stockpile various grades of scrap metal, and assist with loading and unloading
3. Ensure materials are stored in accordance with company policy
4. Ensure daily checks are completed
5. Attend any training courses that the company proposes
6. Co-ordinate with other operatives to ensure the correct processing of all loads
7. Carry out final inspection of dispatched scrap materials
8. Process material to conform with grade specifications
9. Assist in the scheduling of inward and outward transport
10. Liaise with customers, drivers and contractors who visit the site
11. Ensure the working area is kept in a clean and tidy state at all times
12. Able to work flexible working hours to include occasional evenings and weekends
13. Operation of site based machinery including the shear
14. Perform such other duties as the Company may from time to time reasonably require
15. Comply with all Company policies related to Code of Conduct, Environmental, Health and Safety and Community
Qualifications required for the Crane Driver
1. 360° Material Handler/Wheeled loading shovel experience an advantage
2. FLT licence would be an advantage
3. Proven track record of working within a team environment
4. Ability to stay calm under pressure
5. Exceptional organisational skills
6. High level of attention to detail and accuracy
7. Excellent interpersonal skills
8. Self-motivated, flexible and adaptable
9. Strong verbal communication skills
10. Integrity and confidentiality
