Job Title: Legal Counsel Reports To: Senior Legal Counsel Location: Liverpool Street About the Role: My client is seeking an experienced and motivated Legal Counsel to join their growing legal team. Reporting directly to the Senior Legal Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in providing legal support to the business, with a focus on commercial contracts and, ideally, employment law. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic and proactive lawyer with at least two years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in commercial law, and with exposure to employment law matters, to further develop their expertise in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities: Commercial Contracts: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including supplier agreements, customer contracts, licensing agreements, and service level agreements. Legal Advisory: Provide legal advice to business teams on a variety of commercial matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Employment Law: Advise on employment law matters, including employee relations, contracts, policies, disputes, and compliance with labor laws (depending on the jurisdiction). Risk Management: Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate those risks across various areas of the business. Litigation Support: Assist with supporting legal counsel in relation to any disputes or litigation, ensuring the organisation’s interests are represented effectively. Legal Research: Conduct legal research on commercial and employment law matters, keeping up to date with changes in relevant laws and regulations. Internal Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as HR, finance, and operations to provide legal support and solutions to business challenges. Policy Development: Assist in the development and review of internal policies, ensuring compliance with corporate governance, legal, and regulatory standards. Qualifications & Experience: PQE: At least 2 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in commercial law, ideally with additional experience in employment law. Legal Expertise: Strong knowledge of commercial contract law and a solid understanding of employment law. Education: A qualified solicitor or equivalent with a legal degree from an accredited institution. Experience in a Corporate Environment: Previous experience in a commercial or in-house legal role is preferred, particularly in a fast-paced or complex business environment. Analytical Skills: Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply legal principles to practical business solutions. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues to non-legal stakeholders. Collaboration: A team-oriented individual with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments. Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail, with the ability to identify key legal issues and risks. Proactive Attitude: Self-starter with a proactive approach to handling legal matters and mitigating risk. Desirable Skills: Knowledge of international commercial law (depending on the business’s scope) is a plus.
