We have an exciting opportunity within our technical team for a Materials Testing Technician within the Faculty of Engineering. Our technicians support research and teaching that changes our lived and you can be part of this diverse team.
Your role will be primarily based within the Materials testing team within the Wolfson Building on University Park Campus. You will help support the teaching and research activities within various research groups and that will include:
Undertaking basic maintenance, servicing and calibration of laboratory equipment.
Be responsible for general housekeeping of laboratory areas and assist in the general running of the building.
Providing technical support and supervision to students and research groups, ensuring safe working environment and assist with the proper use of equipment.
We will provide you with the training and support in developing your skills.
You will have previous experience of working in a laboratory environment, and you are eager to learn new skills and techniques, with help from our team of highly skilled technicians. You will be able to demonstrate your attention to detail and rise to the challenge this fantastic opportunity presents. As this role involves the use of multiple IT systems, you will have good IT skills, including experience of using MS Office, email and the web. A good working knowledge of Office 365 would be desirable, along with the ability to pick up new systems quickly.
You are educated to A Level in relevant subjects or have equivalent vocational qualifications (NVQ Level 3 City & Guilds) or you can demonstrate equivalent working experience.
