It is a top 10 European Real Estate Manager and the 2nd largest Logistics Manager. Within the UK the Asset Management team is responsible for negotiating leases, initiating and leading renovation efforts, researching market trends, and seeking innovative strategies to maximize property values, directly and/or through third-party property managers and asset management staff. About the role As the Real Estate Asset Manager you will get the opportunity to be responsible for the active management of a number of UK assets: optimising returns within the risk parameters of the fund mandate and in conjunction with the fund strategy. The Real Estate Asset Manager role requires the detailed understanding and analysis of the portfolio of assets, setting individual asset plans with target and budgets for the next 12 months and 3 -5 years. The role may involve working with the transactions team and fund managers/ deputy fund manager (FM/DFM) of any UK funds to help source, acquire or sell assets Key responsibilities To work with the asset management (AM) team and wider abrdn Real Estate teams (fund management, development management, transactions, legal, property management, ESG, insurance, treasury and research) to deliver asset management initiatives and outcomes in accordance with agreed Investment Strategy Plans for client portfolios To oversee and co-ordinate the activities of the property managers and external service providers in delivering asset management and investment plans To assist in the preparation of asset management plans in line with requirements of the Investment Plan and client requirements Actively manage the properties for which they are responsible to the highest standards of professionalism and best market practice To engage in and support negotiations regarding transactions, Capex, lettings, planning, ESG initiatives and other activities relating to the client’s assets About the candidate requirements Experience in real estate portfolio management, ideally RICS qualified Good working knowledge of the UK real estate market A person whose experience allows him/her to manage more complicated assets typically at the higher value end where performance has a larger impact on Fund returns. Somebody with a track record for successfully completing transactions, development, ESG initiatives and complicated active asset management projects. Somebody with a solid market reputation and key contacts with occupiers, developers and owners. A contributor to the wider Real Estate team who takes on additional responsibilities, shares knowledge at team meetings and plays an active role beyond their day to day role.
