Our Warehouse teams are the heartbeat of Smiths News. To ensure our warehouse departments run smoothly, our Team Leaders play a key part in ensuring accuracy, efficiency and productivity across their departments and warehouses.
As our Operations Team Leader you’ll be responsible for planning and resourcing the warehouse operation to ensure pack accuracy of our products and efficient management products to the department. You will also ensure that a high level of health and safety, compliance with company policy and transport legislation is adhered to at all times. This role involves assisting in maintaining operational excellence and supporting the team in achieving site objectives. The Team Leader will work closely with the Depot Manager and Deputy Depot Manager to drive operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Support:
Assist the Deputy Depot Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring adherence to SOPs and efficient workflow.
Monitor and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement.
Collaborate with the team to resolve operational challenges and implement solutions.
It is a requirement to be able to drive a forklift, as part of the warehouse duties, full training will be given to achieve FLT (forklift) licence
Health & Safety:
Support the Deputy Depot Manager in maintaining a safe working environment by conducting regular safety audits and inspections.
Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety regulations and company policies.
Participate in safety training programs and promote a safety-always culture.
Team Management:
Assist in managing and motivating the warehouse operatives and contractors, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Support in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members.
Provide guidance and support to warehouse operatives to enhance their performance and development.
Customer Service:
Support in resolving customer issues and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
Desired Skills and Experience (but not essential)
Experience in logistics, distribution, or a related field.
Good organisational and time management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
