We are currently looking to recruit a Project Engineer; reporting to the Project Development & Safety Lead UK, you will be the lead warehouse design for new developments and facility redesign projects along with large new customer opportunities. This role will be mainly based at Grimsby, with a requirement to travel to our other UK sites.
You will have a fundamental role within the company, driving continuous improvement across all of our cold store / logistics operation, be the lead in implementing new development projects and facility remodelling projects and managing suppliers for large maintenance and new development projects.
Responsibilities:
* Analyse customer profiles and match business requirements (pallet height, SKU velocity, pick face count) to design concept solutions.
* Develop automation equipment calculations, volume flow chart, Power Point slides, videos, and other materials to defend and showcase designs to internal stakeholders.
* Modify existing facility layouts or design concept layouts in AutoCAD.
* Provide capex estimates for conceptual solutions with support from suppliers.
* Work with site managers and facility management across the UK to develop layouts, cost estimates and implementation schedules.
* Provide engineering, project management and analytical support to the Project Development, Maintenance and Operations teams.
* Support the Project Development Lead in implementation of large greenfield and expansion projects.
* Work with various general contractors in developing solutions for lighting, fire protection, refrigeration and general construction.
* Work in cross functional teams to develop conceptual solutions further into detailed designs.
* Assist Facilities team in supplier selection by developing detailed RFPs for obtaining competitive bids.
* Analyse data, understand, map and measure current processes to establish a baseline.
* Identify improvement opportunities together with the local operational and maintenance teams by redesigning the process and/or layout.
Requirements:
* Previous experience (min. 3 years) of project-related warehouse design work is essential.
* Previous experience (min. 2 years) implementation or project management experience preferred.
* Sound working knowledge of AutoCAD software.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Advanced knowledge and capabilities with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, familiarity with Visio, VBA & SQL.
* General understanding of facility layout and design (coursework/project examples).
* Analytical; technical acumen.
* Structured; understands how to separate and combine tasks into efficient workflows; knows what to measure; can simplify complex processes.
* Must be willing to travel to our other UK sites.
