The Upper Limb Team are happy to advertise their Shoulder and Hand Fellowship.
The role is for 40 hours per week. The fellowship is due to start in August 2026 for six months.
We have Shoulder and Hand placements available.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate's will -
1. Attend clinics at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh as required.
2. Participate in elective, trauma and emergency surgery as required.
3. Attend arthroplasty meetings and prepare presentations for MDT meetings. One Fellow will be responsible for maintaining the Peri-Prosthetic Infection log.
4. The posts may require fellows to participate in the non-resident out of hour's rota dependent upon the service requirements. This usually applies to the pre CCT fellows from the Deaneries.
5. Carry out ward rounds and clerk patients on the day of surgery. In addition to consent, all patients for theatre require a thromboprophylaxis assessment to be completed by the admitting doctor and full assessment of medications on admission.
6. Manage inpatients in conjunction with allied specialties at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary (Wigan Infirmary).
7. Maintain clear and contemporaneous medical records.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. MBChB, MBBS or equivalent
2. Full registration with GMC with licence to practice
Desirable criteria
1. FRCS (Orth/Plast) or equivalent
2. Higher Degree (MD, PhD)
Experience
Essential criteria
1. Higher Specialist Training
2. Experience in Hand and Upper Limb Surgery
Desirable criteria
1. Previous upper limb fellowship
2. Relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals
Skills
Essential criteria
1. Good Communicator
2. Team Player
3. Ability to keep good clinical records
4. Ability to set priorities in face of conflicting demands
Additional
