Relief Janitors (3110), Uist & Barra Schools
£14.12 per hour, inclusive of £1.42 Distant Islands Allowance per hour
The Education, Skills & Children’s Services Department is seeking to add to its list of persons who are willing to act as Relief Janitors in Uist and Barra Schools. Relief cover may be required on Saturdays as well as during the week, therefore if you are only available on Saturdays you should also apply. Hours as and when required.
Duties include: carrying out security procedures for school buildings and grounds, including keyholder responsibilities; handyperson duties; day-to-day operation and routine maintenance of boilers and heating plant as instructed; preparing classrooms/halls for school and/or public use; school crossing patrol and general supervision of pupils at intervals and open and close of school; supervision of community lets outwith school hours.
You should have: the ability to work effectively on own initiative and also co operatively as part of a team; an organised and effective approach to the full range of janitorial duties; the ability to relate to and control pupils and to deal effectively with misbehaviour; sufficient knowledge to identify faults in the buildings’ fabric/fitting/contents; basic handyperson duties; a willingness to respond promptly to emergency call-outs.
This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.
This post is on an as and when basis to cover absences of permanent staff. Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance.
