We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic team player who has experience of tutoring Adults Functional Skills, English and Maths. An awareness of how mental illness can impact a student’s ability to focus and learn, would be of value.
As a band 4 Tutor we require you to have a genuine interest and skills to teachacross a broad range of levels, from Entry 1 to Level. You will be required to support patients who have struggled with mainstream education both on an individual basis and as part of a group.
You will work alongside the current team in supporting the implementation of a weekly timetable with an ever growing number of educational referrals and request. In addition, you will have opportunity to support the senior staff in leading sessions.
As the job is in a forensic high security hospital, a basic understanding of mental illness is useful.
To support patients in accessing educational opportunities, at different levels, to achieve competence and qualifications relevant to them and their abilities. The focus of the adult education of for English and Maths support.
To demonstrate a flexible and inclusive approach when offering educational support to patients, who can have extreme mental health presentations and/or be in very restricted circumstances
To be flexible with regard to the needs of the patients and the organisation. The Work can take place in the Education department or on the wards with the patient.
All the work is face to face. We do not have an option for on line learning.
