Job Description
Due to continued growth, we are now seeking a General Manager to join our Transport and Operations team at our Rugby site.
As General Manager you will report into the Operations Director, you will be expected to lead and engage your people to deliver optimum business performance whilst creating and implementing operational plans to meet current and future business strategy across the wider network. With profitability at the core of everything we do, you will hold full accountability for the entire contract across multiple sites.
This is a full time, permanent position Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5/5.30pm (depending on lunch taken), offering a competitive salary and package with the opportunity to work for a forward thinking market leader.
Job responsibilities of General Manager include:
1. Working with the Operations Director in the formulation of the Retail strategy; specifically for the sites within this contract
2. Delivering and executing the strategy across the retail sector
3. Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and opportunities to add value
4. Establishing and maintaining effective relations with the customer to ensure their expectations are met
5. Managing the sector’s performance in order to maximise revenue, control costs and drive profits
6. Working with the Operations Managers in order to identify and drive efficiencies, ensuring achievement of agreed KPI’s, including minimising empty legs and maximising revenue per mile and Customer Performance
7. Utilising compliance and maintenance information in the instigation of actions to minimise risk to the business, control costs and drive profitability
8. Identifying trends and developing solutions in the following areas: -Driver complianceAccidents and Incidents and Risk AssessmentsFleet defects, Site Maintenance and RepairFuel consumptions
9. Line Management responsibility for the Operations Managers
10. Ensuring processes are in place to manage the flow of communication across the sector in a clear, timely and consistent fashion
11. Working with the Retail HR Business Partner to devise and maintain succession plans for the sector
12. Overseeing all aspects of staff and driver training including performance management
Qualifications
To apply for the role of General Manager, you will possess the following skills, experiences and qualifications:
13. As our ideal candidate you will have proven experience within a similar role and be able to demonstrate your strong leadership and people management skills.
14. Your strategic experience and confidence in your own ability to lead the creation and delivery of strategy to the overall business vision will be supported by your high commercial acumen and excellent customer relationship management
15. Your experience of different industry sectors across 3PL, Transport and Warehousing will help you demonstrate resilience and class yourself as a self-starter with continual focus on operational, customer, financial issues
16. Management CPC holder
17. Be able to utilise management information suite to ensure proactive management of O license obligations.
18. Strong communication skills and relationship building skills.
