Job Title: Fire Safety Officer
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Newham to assist with the appointment of a Fire Safety Officer, on a 2.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at client’s discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £266.53 - £344.05 per Day
Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with the Fire Safety Manager and Senior Fire Safety Officer on service developments and fire safety improvements.
2. Line manage Fire Safety Advisors.
3. Assist the Fire Safety Manager and Senior Fire Safety Officer to develop, implement, and monitor fire safety policies, procedures, strategies, and annual action plans.
4. Monitor proposed changes to fire safety-related legislation and guidance, and assist the Fire Safety Manager and Senior Fire Safety Officer to ensure a coordinated response at all levels.
5. Ensure that the content of the Council's Fire Safety Policy, protocols, and procedures are up to date, reflecting adopted changes or new legislation and guidance.
6. Develop and deliver core and specialist fire safety training programmes as required.
Knowledge:
1. Specialist knowledge of fire safety legislation and its applications to housing.
2. Knowledge of the requirements for good fire safety management and maintenance operations.
3. Knowledge of Fire Risk Assessment process and guidance/best practice (PAS 79).
4. Knowledge of building construction.
5. Knowledge of stakeholder engagement.
Experience:
1. Minimum 3 years' experience within the fire safety sector, property management, or similar sector.
2. Experience of managing or advising on fire safety in a medium to large organisation.
3. Experience in researching, developing, and implementing policy and strategy to meet business requirements.
4. Experience of working in a building compliance or fire service environment.
