Due to service development, Vida Healthcare is currently looking to recruit a reliable and hardworking administrator to join our busy summarising team. This position is offered on a part-time basis for 20 hours per week and will be based at the Gayton Road Health Centre, Kings Lynn.
The summarising function is part of the wider document management team and this role will occasionally support the wider team if required.
The successful candidate must have the flexibility to be available to cover extra hours for annual leave and short notice sickness.
Main duties of the job
* Review and provide feedback on data/information queries on patient records.
* Match electronic records on computer.
* Validate all existing medical history (immunisations, problems, etc) entered by previous practice and complete any gaps.
* Read and digest all hospital letters (discharge letters/outpatient reports, results etc) and transpose by coding any information onto the patient's clinical record.
* Code and 'link' each 'problem' appropriately as per the practice summarising protocol.
* Review and enrich the summary page.
* Review QOF (Quality and Outcome Framework) performance markers and ensure read coding captures these codes.
* Identify gaps or errors in medical records and rectify as appropriate, or flag these gaps, if unable to find any data.
* Record all allergies and sensitivities.
* Alert recall clerk to any potential recalls that need setting up/reviewing.
* Ensure that information on safeguarding children (or vulnerable adults) is appropriately flagged and identified.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of a healthcare setting and an understanding of medical terminology.
* An experienced administrator, with excellent IT, time management and organisational skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively, working in a confidential and discreet manner.
* Ability to multi-task, work efficiently and maintain a high level of attention to detail, when under pressure.
* Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, as well as independently.
* Primary care experience is desirable but not essential.
* Some flexibility is required as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.
