Here at Long-Term Teachers, we are working closely with a Special school in the Bath area. They are looking for a TA to join a KS2 class with some general classroom support as well as 1-1 work.
This wonderful school looks after a range of special needs but primarily are focused around SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs) & ASD. The school are very much a school on the rise so this is a fantastic time to be joining them, a new headteacher has made a real difference to the school!
The Role
This role is a full-time position, where the successful candidate will be expected to support a KS2 class of SEMH students where you will be supporting the class teacher in whatever they need. The role would be a full teaching role so you will be expected to plan and mark your own lessons but adequate PPA time will be provided.
Due to the needs of the students it is essential that you feel confident in dealing with challenging behaviour and have worked with SEMH/ASD students before. They really want candidates who feel passionate about helping students that exhibit challenging behaviour and want to make a real difference in their lives moving forward. They are open to applications from candidates that would prefer to work short-term/part-time but ideally you would be available full-time.
You will be expected to:
* Be adaptable and flexible around the needs of the pupils.
* Have experience of working with SEMH/ASD.
* Work well as part of a team, actively seek ways of improving the class environment
* Work in close proximity with the SENCO to grow your skillset.
* Support students on a personal level as well as educational.
