Use SolidWorks confidently to interrogate models; experience with Creo would be a strong advantage. Utilise PLM software (ideally Windchill 10.1 or higher); knowledge of EPDM is beneficial. Manage and control Bill of Materials (BoM), CAD models, and engineering drawings to ensure data accuracy and version control. Engineer products to meet defined targets — including cost, weight, strength, and performance criteria. Support the development and delivery of detailed project timing plans and ensure key milestones are achieved. Ensure manufacturability and assembly feasibility are built into product designs from the earliest stages. Create and present detailed Design Reports to internal stakeholders and external customers with confidence and clarity. Own the product specification and requirements from initial concept through to final approval. Collaborate with and manage FEA engineers, ensuring analysis supports robust design validation. Experience with ERP systems such as QAD or SAP is advantageous. Operate to ISO9001 and ISO14001 standards, maintaining compliance across all design and engineering activities. EXPERIENCE Experience & Knowledge Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent relevant experience). Ideally a Chartered Engineer (CEng) or actively working towards accreditation. Strong background in automotive, aerospace, or defence engineering environments. Experienced in low-to-medium volume production methods, including: Welding, Fabrication, Machining and Composites Full lifecycle engineering experience – from initial concept and development through to detailed design and technical drawings. Skilled in reviewing and working with 3D CAD models and drawings (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar platforms). Knowledge of material selection and application, particularly in structural and protective systems. Familiarity with structural performance evaluation, with the ability to collaborate closely with FEA specialists. Practical understanding of workshop theory and hands-on manufacturing processes.
