We are seeking a highly experienced Design Director to lead a superb team in delivering large-scale industrial projects across the Northeast of England. You will have extensive experience in EPCM or Construction Management, particularly in high capital value schemes exceeding £100 million. This permanent position as Design Director requires someone with a background in advanced manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, hospitals, M&E services, data centres, or similar complex environments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage a team of 5 in the existing Design Team, with plans to replicate this team for new projects.
* Directly oversee project delivery, ensuring high-quality design outcomes and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
* Collaborate closely with contractors currently managing the team, gradually assuming direct management responsibility.
* Utilise expertise in both Contractor and Consultancy roles, with a strong track record in large-scale projects.
* Travel regularly to project sites and attend meetings, including occasional travel for client and stakeholder engagements.
Requirements:
* Minimum of 10 years' experience in Design Management with a demonstrated history of managing design teams and delivering complex projects.
* Proven experience in sectors such as advanced manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, hospitals, M&E services, or data centres.
* Expertise in high capital value schemes, ideally £100 million and above.
* Ideally have experience with both the Contractor and Consultancy/Client sides of large-scale projects.
* Effective team management skills, capable of leading and motivating a diverse team to achieve project goals.
You will report to the Regional Director, providing regular updates on project progress and strategic initiatives. You will have significant autonomy and decision-making authority within the design and project management functions.
