Main Purpose of the Role l;"/> Supporting the Head of Capital and Head of Reserving in all related work for business managed under Faraday Underwriting Limited. Context of the Role The Faraday Actuarial function is structured into “Core” teams for Pricing, Reserving and Capital, and “Line of Business” (LOB) actuaries that align with underwriting teams and support the Core actuarial teams. Key Responsibilities This role is predominately reserving focused but will provide a range of responsibilities / exposures across both Reserving and Capital. The key responsibilities include: -Running and maintaining efficient quarterly reserving processes, including quarterly roll-forward, actual vs expected and calculation of financial results. -Assisting the Head of Reserving with quarterly reserve reviews – preparing data, assumption selections and peer-review of LOB output. -Assisting the Head of Reserving with the annual reserving exercise and assumptions updates. -Liaising with Claims, Finance and LOB actuaries on day-to-day reserving tasks. -Maintaining and improving reserving processes and management information. -Assisting the Head of Reserving in producing quarterly reserving packs for the Reserving Committee, Financial Reporting Committee and to meet other internal / external reporting requirements. -Assisting the Head of Reserving with various internal / external audit requests. -Production of regulatory returns including Lloyds quarterly monitoring returns. Qualifications & Experience This role will suit an individual with at least one to two years of actuarial experience with a background in general insurance reserving preferable. You should be hardworking and conscientious with the ability to drive tasks forward and find solutions to complex problems. You should have an open, friendly and professional attitude and be self-motivated to learn and develop quickly in the role. In addition, the following qualifications and attributes are desirable: -A 2:1 degree or higher in a numerate/mathematical subject. -Excellent IT skills. Particularly in Microsoft Excel and R, experience of SQL is desirable but not required. -Ability to review, analyse and present technical information concisely and effectively. -Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively with people from all areas of the business. -Ability to work independently and deliver to deadlines.
