About the role
The Senior Content Editor will play a key role in ensuring our new website and social media channels deliver a consistent, high-quality experience for our users. You’ll be responsible for proofreading, editing, and improving all web and social content to make sure it meets brand voice, tone, and style guidelines. This role will focus on creating clarity and cohesion across our channels, aligning content with user experience (UX), accessibility, and SEO best practices.
You will report to our VP, Content Strategy and work closely alongside our VP, Websites and VP, Design, Digital Marketing Analyst and other designers and content specialists in our dedicated brand and essence team. Your role will be to make sure that our digital content reflects our new brand and engages our audiences. Our aim is to create an exceptional digital experience for our customers, and this role is critical in delivering on that promise.
Main responsibilities
Content editing and proofreading
* Reviews and edits all website and social media content for readability, grammar, and clarity, ensuring consistency and coherence across all pages.
* Refines and polishes copy to align with brand tone of voice and content design best practices.
* Provides constructive feedback to content creators to help them align their work with editorial guidelines.
Brand content governance
* Ensures brand voice and style guidelines are followed across all web and social content.
* Acts as a gatekeeper for quality, ensuring all web and social copy maintains a high standard and reflects our new brand identity.
* Creates and maintains a detailed content inventory to track all web content, ensuring consistent updates are being recorded.
SEO and content optimisation
* Collaborates with content creators to ensure all content is optimised for search engines.
* Reviews and improves the use of keywords, semantic language, and meta tags across web pages.
Editorial calendar management
* Drives and manages the editorial calendar to ensure content is planned, delivered, and updated on schedule.
* Prioritises content updates and identifies opportunities for improving the user journey.
Collaboration and tools
* Works with content creators, designers, and SEO specialists to improve content performance and user experience.
* Uses CMS tools (ideally Prismic, Contentful, or other headless CMS) to edit, manage, and publish content.
Accessibility and UX
* Ensures all content meets WCAG guidelines and supports users of all abilities.
* Champions accessible content that is written in PLain English, is engaging, easy to understand and places the user at the heart of everything we do.
Essential criteria
* Educated to degree level (ideally in marketing. communications or journalism discipline)
2+ years’ experience should include:
* Writing for the web, with proven ability to create accessible, readable engaging content
* Relevant B2B marketing experience
* Using data and metrics to both define and optimise content
* Understanding of search engine optimisation (SEO)
* Proficiency with tools such as SEMRush or AHrefs
* Strong content editorial skills, with the ability to juggle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
Desirable Criteria
* Understanding and interpretation of Google Analytics and Google Search Console
* Understanding of UX principles
* Using Prismic as a Content Management System (CMS)
