Job Title: Membership Support Officer
Location: IHEEM, 2 Abingdon House, Cumberland Business Centre, Fratton, Portsmouth, PO5 1DS.
Salary: Salary starting at GBP25,000 payable monthly in arrears.
Job Type: Full-time / Permanent
Job Hours: 35 per week between 08:00 - 17:00 Monday-Friday (flexible) - Occasional evening or weekend work may be required, e.g. annual conference or travel to meetings.

The Role:
To support the Membership officers in providing an accurate and seamless new membership recruitment and registration process, providing first-class customer service to new and existing members; to support the Membership Team in driving recruitment and retention of IHEEM and support other functions of the Institute as required.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To receive inquiries from membership applicants, provide advice and guidance to encourage new members to join the Institute.
2. Make provisional assessments from the applicant details matching qualifications, experience and responsibility to membership grade.
3. To support the administrative process for new members ensuring it runs smoothly and accurately, issuing letters of notification, membership cards and certificates, entering new member details onto the database.
4. Provide advice and guidance for existing members on matters such as membership upgrades, requirements for registration and Engineering Council queries. In this way, encourage professional development, upgrades, and registration.
5. Support and learn the administration process for registration as Chartered Engineer (CEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng) and Engineering Technician (EngTech).
6. Give advice on the registration process to the membership and applicants and match qualifications and experience to plan an application.
7. Obtain written professional reviews and arrange interviews keeping panel members and candidates informed. Inform applicants of the panel and committee decisions.
8. Maintain files and provide documentary evidence to the Audit Committee and the EC Nominations and compliance Committee as required.
9. Assist with reviewing procedures and processes to ensure the most efficient and effective service possible.
10. To attend events to support the recruitment of new members.
11. Assist other IHEEM Managers and officers as necessary.
12. Undertake ad hoc projects as requested.

1. A good standard of education is required, but proven skills from previous employment equally applicable.
2. Adaptable and with a sense of humour.
3. Able to take the lead role in your areas of responsibility.
4. Able to summarise complex issues clearly and succinctly.
5. Able to make decisions and articulate the rationale behind them.
6. Demonstrate a high level of commitment.
7. Able to plan workload, applying priorities, working under pressure and keeping to deadlines.
8. Must be equally comfortable as a fully involved team player and working alone using own initiative.
9. Attention to detail is a necessity but without losing sight of the overall plan.
10. A confident and excellent communicator, verbally and written.
11. Must be fully IT literate.
