Job Description:
The CAPEX Portfolio Lead will be responsible for overseeing and managing the Project Management Office functions for Tata Steel across UK. The role involves coordinating and aligning project activities, resources, and deliverables to ensure successful project execution and delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Governance:
Establish and maintain project governance frameworks, processes, and standards to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and compliance with regulatory requirements. Generate MIS and participate in Project review meetings with Steering Committee and other Executive Boards.
2. Coordination with Project Managers:
Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison between the PMO and project managers within Tata Steel UK. Facilitate regular communication, collaboration, and coordination to ensure alignment of project activities with organizational goals and priorities. Manage the project portfolio, providing oversight and guidance to project managers to optimize resource allocation, mitigate risks, and achieve project objectives.
3. Project Planning and Tracking:
Get project plans, schedules, and milestones developed in collaboration with project managers and stakeholders. Track project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure timely delivery of project objectives.
4. Resource Management:
Coordinate resource utilization across projects and generate resource requirement plans to optimize productivity and efficiency. Monitor resource capacity and demand and make recommendations for resource adjustments as needed.
5. Performance Reporting:
Prepare and present regular project status reports, dashboards, and metrics to stakeholders, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement. Facilitate project review meetings to discuss progress, issues, and action plans.
6. Risk Management:
Assess and mitigate project risks & issues to minimize their impact on project outcomes. Guide Project Managers to implement risk management strategies and contingency plans to ensure project success.
7. Change Management:
Support change management initiatives by facilitating communication, stakeholder engagement, and training activities. Ensure that changes are effectively integrated into project plans and aligned with project objectives.
8. Budget Management:
Oversee project budgeting activities, including estimation, forecasting, and tracking of project costs. Ensure that projects are delivered within budget constraints and financial targets are met. Collaborate with finance teams to analyze variances and implement cost control measures when necessary.
9. Continuous Improvement:
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO to enhance project management practices, tools, and methodologies. Capture lessons learned from projects and apply best practices to future projects.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
2. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
3. PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
4. Minimum of 20 years of experience in project management, with at least 3 years in a PMO leadership role.
5. Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects and programs from initiation to closure.
6. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
7. Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and collaborate with diverse teams.
8. Experience in the steel industry.
