We are excited to expand our existing Skills Programmes Engineering team to recruit an Assessor who has demonstrable occupational experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Electrical Engineering, Fabrication and Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Technical Support Engineering, Mechanical Manufacture Engineering (CNC). If you are looking for a change in direction from your current Engineering role, wish to join the Team on a part-time basis alongside your current role or return to the sector to utilise your Engineering experience and knowledge to support the future workforce for the sector, this is the ideal role for you. The essential candidate will travel to undertake assessment in the workplace of candidates undertaking SVQ qualifications and develop demand for services. You will manage your portfolio of Engineering learners undertaking Modern Apprenticeships as well as commercial SVQs at varied stages on their qualification journey to aim for successful completion whilst ensuring contract compliance. You will also closely liaise and develop productive working relationships with candidates’ employers and visit these on a regular basis. It is essential that you have a minimum SCQF Level 7 qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Technical Support Engineering, Mechanical Manufacture Engineering (CNC biased), Fabrication and Welding e.g., minimum HNC. It is desirable for the candidate to have an accredited workplace assessment qualification or be working towards an accredited workplace assessment qualification, however this award must be gained once in post and will be delivered by West College Scotland. The successful candidate must have industry experience and demonstrable competence in one or more of the Engineering vocational areas as shown above. You will also have demonstrable experience of working towards the achievement of targets and have experience of working on own initiative and as part of a team. You will have excellent organisation and planning skills as well as a clean driving license and use of a car for business purposes. As per the Awarding Body requirements, you will have gained a recognised apprenticeship in one of the specific Engineering disciplines shown above.
