Assistant Buyer
Location: Northampton - NN4
Salary: £30,000 +

Our client is an SME business that supplies specialist IT equipment to students & organizations throughout the UK. You will be working in a team of 3 to ensure that customers' orders are fulfilled and support any other queries or issues across the business. Due to winning a new contract, they have experienced considerable growth; you will eventually be managing the 360 procurement process for one of their divisions.
Key Responsibilities for the Assistant Buyer:
1. Process POs, raise requisitions, maintain detailed transaction records and support with daily invoicing, chasing and receipt of orders.
2. Manage supplier relationships, expedite orders to ensure quick turnaround.
3. Set up vendors and items in the ERP system.
4. Stock management: monitor inventory levels, and coordinate with the internal logistics team for timely deliveries.
5. Preparation of supplier KPI reporting.
6. Work collaboratively with all departments to resolve any supply issues or discrepancies, handle queries and meet demands.
7. Data management and analysis within MS Excel to support day-to-day operations and for reports.
Skills and Experience required for the Assistant Buyer:
1. Purchasing experience preferably within the IT sector.
2. Competent user of Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables), experience using MS Dynamics NAV or other ERP is desirable.
3. Strong organisational, problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset.
4. Hunger to learn and develop your skills within a growing business.
5. CIPS accreditation or working towards would be beneficial; study support for this can be offered.
Additional details:
1. This role is office-based with no option for hybrid working currently.
2. Working hours: 9am - 5.30pm Monday to Thursday; 9am - 5pm Friday.
3. 5 hours per week total.
4. Internal reward and bonus schemes available after probation.
5. 22 days' holiday, plus bank holidays.
