About the Job As a Health and Safety Business Partner, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive health and safety support and advisory service to your business area division, ensuring that compliance (relating to health and safety, and other business risk areas) is monitored, controlled and reported appropriately.
You will work collaboratively with the other Health & Safety Business partners and be involved in the development of strategy, planning, budget and performance management for the service, and look to implement projects to improve health and safety remit performance, drive effective and efficient work practices, and drive compliance with relevant legislation, codes of practice and governing body requirements.
Key Responsibilities Work collaboratively with the Executive Leadership Team, Managers and staff across the organisation to ensure high standards of Health and Safety management are maintained.
To provide a professional H&S advisory service including sound professional H&S advice on all matters of H&S policy, offering pragmatic and practical advice that ensures the most effective solution to be implemented within available budgets.
Develop and implement any specific H&S policies, procedures and documentation & KPIs to the division that are not covered by the group H&S system.
Assist with development and implementation of the Group level H&S strategy and H&S business plan and deliver activities to schedule.
Prepare and present reports to appropriate meetings and committees.
To improve health and safety performance in all areas of responsibility by contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and efficiency and p rovide training and guidance to staff on health & safety procedures and best practices.
Support the development of the Group H&S management system and act as the main point of contact during the consultation activity
Support and collaborate with H&S business partners to deliver or advise on audits, inspections, training, engagement, adverse event management and risk assessments
Take appropriate actions to ensure compliance and improvement through implementation of SMART approach.
To arrange Health surveillance as required within the division and follow up on concerns raised with the People & culture dept (HR) and local management
Implementation of containment actions following the identification of concerns to prevent further loss
Complete regular evaluation of performance including legal compliance, adverse events, audits, and inspection with a focus on trends to support the development of robust corrective and preventive actions.
Experience and Qualifications required Minimum of NEBOSH certification required
NEBOSH diploma would be beneficial but not essential
Professional health & safety qualifications
Professional audit qualification (ISO45001, ISO9001, ISO50001, ISO14001)
Member of a professional body. IOSH or IIRSM
Proven experience in a Health & Safety and Compliance role ideally within a LACTO or local authority environment
Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation, including HSE regulations and industry standards.
Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and educate teams.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
Proficiency in using health & safety management systems and reporting tools.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
Experience of providing advice to a range of stakeholders.
Effective negotiating and presentational skills and e xperience of designing and delivering training (a training qualification would be an advantage).
