Are you a talented criminal lawyer looking for the next step in your career? The Crown Prosecution Service is recruiting qualified barristers and solicitors to join our counter terrorism division in London.
About the Crown Prosecution Service
At the Crown Prosecution Service, we prosecute criminal cases that have been investigated by the police and other law enforcement agencies in England and Wales. We employ over 7,000 people who think objectively, act professionally, show the utmost respect for others and continually strive for excellence.
Our counter terrorism division is a specialist unit dedicated to prosecuting terrorism crimes and terrorist-related offences. We work with specialist police units on cases including terrorism, incitement to racial and religious hatred, war crimes and crimes against humanity, official secrets cases, piracy and hijacking.
About the role
As a specialist prosecutor in our counter terrorism division, you advise, review and make charging decisions on some of the most serious and high-profile cases. You work with criminal justice partners to disrupt offending involving matters of national security and actions of the state – reviewing large quantities of evidence and unused material to build clear prosecution and disclosure strategies. You conduct advocacy in the magistrates’ court and hearings in the Crown Court if appropriately qualified.
We provide a comprehensive induction, mentorship and ongoing training to develop your expertise and help you thrive in your role.
About you
We’re looking for barristers and solicitors with extensive experience of the criminal justice system, prosecuting or defending – including dealing with complex disclosure issues. You must be fully qualified, practising and able to conduct advocacy in the magistrates’ court. Knowledge of the law and procedures relating to terrorism, national security and core international crimes is desirable but not essential.
