Head of Human Resources Reporting to the Vice Principal (Resources) the Head of HR will have the gravitas to establish credibility, supporting the senior management team, departmental managers and staff in all aspects of HR. Providing specialist advice, support and guidance to managers on a day-to-day basis, being pro-active in understanding departmental challenges and working in collaboration with managers to influence and resolve them is an essential part of this role. The Head of HR is responsible for the leadership and development of a small HR team, with responsibility for the full HR life cycle. Key requirements are: Strong HR generalist with in depth knowledge of UK employment law and best practice An excellent communicator CIPD level 5 Flexibility, adaptability and a can-do attitude Good level of computer/database skills specifically Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to work flexibly under pressure with a proven track record of delivering against simultaneous priorities Have high emotional intelligence Experience of the education sector is desirable but not essential Duties will include, but are not limited to Being responsible for the full HR support service to all employees regarding their HR queries relating to systems, college policies and procedures, best practices, and legislative requirements. Consistently maintain accurate and up-to-date information on the company’s HR system – ITrent Monitor, review and develop any HR policies and processes as required by the organisation, or as directed by changes in employment law Support and advise managers on people management matters Manage any employee relations arising such as performance management, disciplinaries, grievances, and occupational health Oversee the management of all employment offers and contracts, pre-employment checks, and ensure probation reviews are conducted and outcomes communicated on time Manage GDPR compliance for the HR function Create various management information reports for the senior management and governors as required Work closely and collaboratively with the senior management team and wider management team to ensure a positive employee experience across the college Overseeing case work, including absence management Direct line management of the HR Team Salary: £43,665 rising to £48,260 Hours: 35 hours per week Tenure: Permanent Annual Leave: Annual Leave entitlement of 35 days, plus bank holidays plus Christmas closure period.
