We are seeking a Field Automation Specialist / Electrical & Mechanical Multiskilled Craftsperson to join our team covering Allanfearn & Inverness on a permanent basis.
This role is ideal for someone focused on excellent customer service with a proven Engineering (E&M) background, eager to develop further.
Responsibilities include:
* Perform repairs, installations, and maintenance at Waste Water sites, utilizing electrical and mechanical skills for both internal teams and external customers.
* Respond to incidents and execute planned work, ensuring efficient operations and cost management.
* Champion safety by undertaking Risk Assessments and selecting appropriate equipment and safe working practices.
* Undertake electrical craft skills, including working on 3-phase & single-phase equipment, fault diagnosis, motor and generator maintenance, lighting, variable speed drives, instrumentation, calibration, and automation equipment resets.
* Perform general mechanical tasks such as pump maintenance, removal, and replacement, working with engines, valves, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, fittings, and mechanical devices.
* Configure and support telemetry systems, setting up outstations and system settings, and ensuring smooth communication systems operation.
* Update software and hardware with minimal disruption, maintain software libraries, and log changes.
* Maintain and calibrate field instrumentation, enhancing data collection and automation tasks, and produce maintenance and calibration reports.
* Support the team with field automation issues and configure user requirements within telemetry/PLC/IMCC/SCADA systems.
Requirements:
* Completed a full apprenticeship or hold an HNC/NC in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Proficient in electrical systems, mechanical work, and calibration of instrumentation.
* 17th/18th Edition trained.
* Strong communication skills, confident working independently, and adaptable to new computer systems.
* Prioritize health and safety, with good problem-solving skills and decision-making ability.
* Knowledge of MS Office, including Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. Valid UK driver’s license required.
* Bonus: Knowledge of water and wastewater processes, customer-oriented mindset, and experience with 17th/18th Edition training.

The role includes standby requirements, a starting salary of £41,000, progressing to £51,970, and a move to a 35-hour workweek in November 2024.
