Leiston Surgery, part of Suffolk GP Federation, are looking for an experienced practice nurse, on a part time basis for 20-25 hours per week, to join our busy clinical team, however, for the right candidate we will consider nurses new or returning to general practice. Duty patterns are variable and the practice core opening hours are from 7.45am-6.30pm, Monday – Friday. The main responsibilities of the role include: Wounds management, treatment applying and removing dressings and sutures. Chronic disease management of long term conditions such as COPD, Asthma and Diabetes. ECG's, swabs and specimens. Carry out examinations for blood pressure, venepuncture, urinalysis and ear examinations. Travel advice and vaccinations. Cervical screening. Child immunisations. Flu, Covid, Shingles, B12 and Pneumococcal vaccinations. Removal of sutures. New patient health checks. Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs. Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required. Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician. Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms. About the Candidate All applicants should have the following qualifications, registrations, skills and experience: Essential: Registered Nurse with current NMC registration. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Able to work autonomously and within a team. Ability to manage time effectively. Experience of using clinical IT systems. Desirable : Experience of working in a primary care environment. Cervical cytology qualification. Child immunisation qualification. Chronic disease management. About Us Leiston Surgery is a semi rural practice on the Suffolk coast providing primary medical care to approximately 9500 patients. They are a dispensing practice covering 144 square miles, with the nearest hospital being 25 miles away in Ipswich. We also have a branch surgery located in the village of Yoxford. T he Care Quality Commission (CQC) has rated the surgery as "Good" across all domains during their recent inspection. The five GP partners all have special interests and actively encourage the clinical team to develop their own skills. The clinical team currently consists of two physician associates, two practice nurses, four health care assistants, a paramedic practitioner, social prescribing team, physiotherapists and a mental health link worker.
