Principal Building Physics Engineer

An award-winning building services firm is looking for a Principal Sustainability Consultant specialising in Energy Modelling and Building Physics to deliver high-profile projects across a range of sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop sustainability and energy strategies to help clients reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption.
2. Support building design teams and sustainability statements for planning applications.
3. Oversee environmental assessments including daylight, sunlight, heating, and cooling load calculations.
4. Contribute to a wide range of projects as workload dictates.
5. Build client relationships and deliver high-quality work.
6. Manage multiple projects and resources to achieve deliverables.
7. Engage in workshops with clients' teams.
8. Produce high-quality, clearly written reports.
9. Delegate tasks and work with graduates.
10. Establish long-term relationships with clients.
Skills & Requirements:
1. Relevant educational qualification in building sustainability/energy.
2. Significant previous relevant industry experience.
3. Understanding of GLA and local borough planning requirements.
4. Knowledge of Building Regulations Part L.
5. Familiarity with industry accreditation schemes such as BREEAM, WELL, NABERS, Fitwel, etc.
6. Proficiency in dynamic simulation packages such as TAS and IES.
7. Ability to conduct domestic/non-domestic energy assessments for planning.
8. Knowledge of whole life cycle carbon assessments (preferably using One Click LCA).
9. Experience in integrating low carbon and resilient solutions into building design.
10. Commercial awareness for business development and proposal preparation.
11. Some project and financial management experience.
