Independent Committee Member - Communications & Engagement Advisory Committee - 4 posts
We are seeking candidates to become independent members of the RSPB’s Communications & Engagement Committee and have 4 opportunities to join other members of the Committee to speak up for bird life and nature and to engage every sector of society in the work of the RSPB.
The RSPB is the UK's largest nature conservation charity with an ambitious programme of work supported by a passionate membership.
The role of an independent member of the RSPB’s Communications & Engagement Committee:
* You will play a key role in supporting the RSPB’s communications, engagement and campaigning programme with stakeholders. You will provide independent oversight, challenge, and guidance to support the Committee’s objectives, whilst ensuring compliance with best practices and regulatory requirements.
* Your experience will support the Board in leveraging all forms of engagement and communication to raise the profile, support, and impact of the RSPB. This will include protecting and growing membership, attracting new commercial partnerships and ensuring that the RSPB brand is front and centre of public consciousness.
The skills required:
In particular, we are seeking candidates with senior experience and a proven track record in the following areas:
* Membership recruitment and retention
* Brand strategy and execution
* Corporate partnerships
* Marketing and Communications.
Ideal candidates will also have the following attributes:
* Ability to constructively challenge and support the RSPB’s engagement and communications strategy
* Willingness to engage in debate while respecting diverse viewpoints
* The ability to work collaboratively within a governance setting
* Strategic thinking and the ability to assess risks and opportunities
* Access to a wide network of existing and potential supporters
* Integrity, independence and sound judgement
* A passion for the work of the RSPB
Candidates will ideally also have some of the following experience:
* Understanding of the charity, public, or environmental sectors
* Awareness of governance frameworks and regulatory environments
* Experience in charity governance, compliance, or strategic leadership
* Knowledge of sustainability, conservation, or ethical funding.
