Based in Estates Services you will be part of a small team of staff responsible for operating the University switchboard and will provide a first point of contact for many customers. You will be expected to have good literacy and IT abilities as well as excellent customer care skills.
You will perform routine, ongoing tasks, primarily related to the operation of a telephone switchboard and the operation and maintenance of a computerised database of telephone directory information. Internal and external contacts with the switchboard will be many and varied, and will include current and prospective students, their parents or guardians, as well as commercial customers, business partners, members of staff, and even prospective donors. The role will require sound judgement as well as a calm demeanour, and you may on occasion have to deal with callers who are anxious or upset.
This is a part-time role with fixed hours: Monday to Friday from 10am to 2pm.
