Summary Description: The Pharmacy Operations Lead will oversee and manage the operations of a pharmacy specialising in cannabis-based prescription medicines (CBPMs) at Montu UK. This role requires a dynamic individual with a strong background in pharmacy operations, patient centred care, inventory management, and team leadership. The successful candidate will drive operational efficiency, ensure high standards of service, and support the growth of our pharmacy by maintaining relationships with patients and external partners. They will manage a team of 5 direct reports, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment that encourages the team to take an inventive approach to problem solving. Strong leadership skills are essential for this role, as the ability to inspire and guide the team toward achieving operational excellence. Key Responsibilities: Pharmacy Customer Services Manage a team of Pharmacy support associates who are the first point of contact for Montu Pharmacy Provide a patient-centred, non-judgmental and problem solving approach to supporting our patients. Lead the team to manage expectations around quality of medication Inventory Management & Stock Optimization: The supply chain for Medical cannabis is complex and unstable. The operations Lead is responsible for the management of CBPM inventory, ensuring stock levels meet patient demands and any regulatory requirements. Implement strategies to reduce stock wastage, improve efficiency, optimise COG on site, and ensure smooth supply chain operations. Success lack of disruption in the supply chain and minimise the need for replacement prescriptions for out of stock items. Ensure maximum profitability from optimising stock management Growth & Scaling : Collaborate with the leadership team to design and execute growth strategies aimed at increasing pharmacy sales and revenue in a rapidly growing business. Oversee projects focused on expanding the pharmacy’s market presence in collaboration with Director of Pharmacy Minimise factors which inhibit pharmacy sales growth Work on ways to automate, improve efficiency and provide the ability to scale the business safely and effectively Support the Director of pharmacy to ensure whilst scaling we meet any regulatory requirements. Formulary & Clinician Support: Manage and expand the pharmacy’s formulary, in collaboration with the commercial team to ensure patients have access to the majority of CBPM in the UK. Provide guidance and support to clinicians on product availability and advise on product information to help educate and grow prescribing CBPMs. Business Development & Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with external clinics and suppliers promoting Montu UK as their preferred pharmacy partner. Identify and present additional service offerings to expand the pharmacy’s presence and increase service utilisation. This is mainly done through our e-commerce platform, held on Shopify. E-commerce or Shopify experience is preferred but not required. Supplier & Partner Management: Maintain relationships with suppliers and B2B partners to ensure a steady and cost-effective supply of products. Participate in supplier meetings, negotiating contracts, managing supply schedules, and reviewing performance. Team Leadership & Staff Development: Manage and mentor pharmacy team members, overseeing their day-to-day tasks, performance, and professional growth. Provide training on cannabis products, internal operations, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Required Qualifications & Skills: 3-5 years experience in an operational role in a business with growth Proven experience in pharmacy operations, ideally with experience in managing pharmaceutical medicines, CBPMs or schedule 2 controlled drugs. Strong background in inventory management, with the ability to optimise stock levels and supply chains. Demonstrated success in driving sales growth and executing revenue-enhancing strategies. Experience in managing and mentoring teams, with strong leadership and people management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with clinicians, external partners, and suppliers. An understanding of the cannabis industry and familiarity with relevant regulations. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions. Experiencing in managing operational projects Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the medicinal cannabis sector preferred Bachelor or Master of Pharmacy or other allied health degree preferred Strong knowledge of formulary management and compliance requirements in the pharmacy industry.
