WHAT WILL YOU DO?
You will integrate into a large and dynamic team of engineers, geoscientists and technicians and provide office and field support for working with small regulated drinking water systems, and on-site wastewater treatment systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
• Plan, coordinate and conduct site investigation programs including drilling, test pitting and installation of monitoring wells.
• Perform field tests to determine prevailing soil and hydrogeological conditions to develop engineering designs for on-site wastewater systems.
• Implement drinking water, surface and groundwater sampling programs for characterization or compliance.
• Oversee aquifer testing and analysis (slug tests and pumping tests).
• Manage, analyze, and interpret a variety of field data.
• Complete mass balance and nutrient dilution calculations for Reasonable Use Criteria.
• Prepare/write engineering design reports for Environmental Compliance Approvals.
• Assist in the design of on-site sewage systems, for both small and large on-site wastewater systems.
• Assist in preparing technical proposals including the work plans, scope, and budgets.
• Supporting senior staff in project planning, scheduling, and allocation of personnel and resources.
• A thorough knowledge of and ability to interpret environmental regulations, guidelines and standards.
• Responsible for personal health and safety and that of any person working on an assignment directly under their supervision.
• Field work in all seasons, travel and overtime may be required.
Job Requirements
• A university degree in related Engineering program is a requirement (Civil, Chemical, Environmental, Geological, Water Resources, etc).
• Accredited, or ability to be accredited, in area of expertise by a recognized body or ability to acquire (i.e. P.Eng.) in the Province of Ontario.
• Knowledge of current applicable Building Codes, specifically Part 8, as well as MECP wastewater design guidelines as well as O.Reg 903 (Water Wells), and O.Reg 170 (Small Regulated Drinking Water Systems).
• Must be able to effectively present ideas and technical information in a clear and concise manner in oral and written form.
• Strong computer skills including all Microsoft Office components; Working knowledge of AutoCAD would be an asset.
• Attention to detail in all undertakings is essential.
• Ability to do physically demanding field work under adverse weather conditions.
• Outstanding organizational, communication, and technical skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage several assignments at one time.
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Desire to succeed in a dynamic, progressive organization.
• Works well independently as well as a part of a team.
• The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills with fluency (reading, writing and oral) in English.
• Must have a valid Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
