We have a 1-year fixed term post available in the Paediatrics department, and the post holder will be expected to participate in the middle grade rota covering Acute Paediatrics and Local Neonatal Unit. This is an excellent opportunity within Paediatrics at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The Trust will look to support the successful candidate in furthering their Paediatric knowledge through exposure to clinics, operating lists (elective and emergency), ward rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings, and formal teaching. Main duties of the job
The post holder will be encouraged to participate in audits, presentations, and teachings. Although this post is not recognised for training, the appointee will be encouraged in their training and development within the role. Applicants must hold full GMC registration and licence to practice. Applications from those wishing to work part-time or job share are welcomed.
The appointee will join the Paediatric team at middle grade level, rotating between General Paediatrics and Neonates. The appointee will take part in outpatient clinics under the supervision of the consultant team and supervise the work of the junior trainees. Working patterns and timetables will be equivalent to those expected of the training grade registrars. This includes normal day work, weekends, and nights.
Job responsibilities
1. Managing paediatric patients throughout their hospital stay
2. Delivering care to Newborns in the Neonatal Services
3. Delivering care to the NICU/SCBU, labour ward & post-natal
4. Assessment of referred babies
5. The review of all babies as needed
6. Supervising Foundation doctors
7. Review of protocols as part of the team
8. The appointee will be expected to work flexibly across the service as required, as and when service needs change
9. To take part in outpatient clinics under the supervision of the Consultant Paediatricians
