External Examiner for Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling Psychology
City St George’s, University of London is looking to recruit an External Examiner for the successful Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling Psychology.
The post will commence from September 2025 and will be based on an initial four-year term. The focus of the role of EE will be to scrutinise and examine a variety of modules within the programme. The PG Cert in Counselling Psychology is a one-year part-time programme aiming to help our students develop their knowledge of application of a range of counselling skills, mental health diagnoses and how to work with these therapeutically, theory and application of psychological frameworks including person-centred, cognitive and behaviour and psychodynamic approaches and working with psychological challenges across the lifespan. Many of our students progress to higher level education and training such as professional doctorates or PhDs.
External examiner responsibilities include:
1. Moderation of assessments
2. Completion of an annual monitoring report
3. Attendance at subject panels where student marks are ratified
A schedule of subject panels per academic session will be made available. Experienced and new external examiners will be considered provided the applicant has the relevant professional qualification(s) and experience. Relevant professional experience in the fields of adult nursing and mental health nursing and a valid teaching qualification are essential requirements for this post. Furthermore, subject to right to work in the UK.
