Position: Assistant Management Accountant
Hours: 40 hours per week, (8am-4:45 Mon to Thurs and 8am 03:30pm Friday)
Salary: Up to 35,000 Per annum
Location: Colchester

Challenges
To work in tandem with the Head of Finance to continue to improve all balance sheet ratios, whilst ensuring cash flow is available to support the company's ongoing expansion expectations. And to ensure adequate controls are practised to avoid risk of financial loss.
Responsibilities (include but not limited to)
* Responsibility for day to day workloads for two Accounts Assistants.
* Maintain minimum 8 week rolling cash flow forecast
* Daily reconciliation of cash book and bank accounts
* Ensure checks & controls over all outgoing payments
* Management and data entry of all aspects of purchase ledger including validation of all purchase invoices, reconciliation of supplier statements, and supplier payment scheduling
* Management of all aspects of raising & issuing Sales Invoices
* Management of company-wide credit card expenditure
* Preparation of month-end journals (prepayments, accruals, other debtors / creditors, asset movements, depreciation).
* Prepare and submit information to statutory authorities including HMRC
* Monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet lines
* Running of 2 Payrolls for 60+ persons
* Preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts in accordance with Group deadlines.
* Prepare monthly report on Actual vs Budget variances
* Prepare monthly Cash flow statements
* Assist with co-ordinating all aspects of preparation of annual year-end Accounts
* Review company internal controls
Key Skills, Characteristics and Experience
* Competent on accounting software and MS Excel
* Ability to demonstrate strong personal integrity, confidence and discretion
* Hard working & ability to meet tight deadlines
* Able to challenge the status quo and drive through changes
* Up to date knowledge of accounting regulations as well as financial issues
* Sound decision making
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Experience in using Access Dimension (Desirable)
* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
* Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Experience with payroll software is a plus.
* Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications
AAT Level 3 or above qualified
Minimum 6 years' experience in a Similar Role
The role is full time and requires a high level of attention to detail and great organisational skills.
