Location: Newcastle Contract: Permanent Working Pattern: Hybrid Role Description The Release Operations Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful deployment and delivery of software releases across FNZ platforms. The Release Operations Engineer is part of a team of engineers and analysts with responsibility for deploying software to internal and external FNZ Figaro clients, to an agreed timeline. Working closely with the Delivery, Product and Support teams, the Release Engineer will execute release activities and improve release processes. The Release Operations Engineer may also be expected to assist in configuring or maintaining the underlying infrastructure used by Figaro to ensure successful deployment of the software. Additionally, The Release Operations Engineer need to ensure that accompanying documentation is provided, and all processes are followed accurately. The role of Release Operations Engineer is varied and technical. The engineer should be an excellent problem solver and also have the ability to communicate clearly with non-technical and technical clients. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to details and a passion for delivering high quality software to FNZ clients. Organisational Design Operational Support sits within the CEO function of FNZ. This position is part of the Figaro Release Operations team that reports to the Head of Support Services Specific Role Responsibilities Deploy FNZ Figaro software to internal or external environments as required, using the appropriate technology, depending on the change. Carry out agreed application maintenance tasks. Lead or assist in the implementation of software and infrastructure changes for internal FNZ Figaro or client environments as required. Provide consultancy, training and advice on technical infrastructure and best practice to FNZ Figaro teams and clients. Participate in the analysis, design, testing and implementation of process improvements and automation, in order to increase efficiency and reliability of change delivery across all FNZ Figaro Teams. Participate in projects to ensure the successful delivery of change, from initial design through to implementation to Production. Create and maintain documentation of processes and procedures as appropriate, including internal audit documentation to ensure there is an accurate record of changes made. Contribute to Release Boards for change delivery as required. Provide technical support to FNZ Figaro staff or clients, including working on client site when required. Independently investigate and diagnose support issues and propose solutions or provide advice to resolve the issues. Provide guidance to more junior staff on the team and other FNZ Figaro teams as appropriate. Independently manage work commitments with minimal referral while providing regular and effective progress updates to the Release Operations Team Leader. Cover for out of hours code deployments including weekends and public holidays on a voluntary basis. Work collaboratively with Release Management, Managed Service Operations, Infrastructure and Solutions Development teams, plus Product owners and other FNZ departments Team Responsibilities Responsible for deploying software and delivering the accompanying documentation to FNZ Figaro clients and acting as quality gatekeeper for the delivered release packages. Responsible for supporting internal Figaro code bases and environments for Figaro developers and testers Maintain the code management software at FNZ, and on client site Ensure the underlying infrastructure is fit for purpose for running Figaro, and work with infrastructure teams to amend configuration. To work with the Release Management team to ensure all delivery deadlines are met whilst ensuring exemplary customer satisfaction. Experience required Highly self motivated and directed, confident, independent, able to take initiative and with a delivery focused working style. Highly logical and proven problem-solving abilities. Excellent organisational, administration and time management skills. Good team communication skills, confident in dealing with internal and external clients. Highly developed written and oral communication skills. Experience in a client-facing support role Experience of documenting processes, procedures and policies to be used internally Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence Intermediate SQL skills Knowledge of operating systems (IBM, Windows, Linux) and cloud platforms AWS and GCP Desirable experience in terraform, Jenkins, infra as code, SDLC, CICD, automation, DevOps methodologies Desirable ITIL Certification The application deadline is 07/02/2025.
