Main Duties of the Job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and motivated band 4/5 pharmacy technicians to work as part of our pharmacy clinical trials team here at University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. Experience and knowledge of ICH good clinical practice and being a current holder of ACPT accreditation would be an advantage but is not essential. These permanent posts require specialist training in GCP and IMP management. You will work as a Senior Technician in Clinical Trials Pharmacy and must be committed to providing the highest quality of research and care for patients in all specialities.

Job Responsibilities
You will be responsible for setting up trials, ensuring that trials run smoothly; this will include accurate record keeping and drug accountability of clinical trials, reviewing protocol specific guidelines and liaising within a multi-disciplinary team.
Your Responsibilities:
1. Support dispensing of clinical trials prescriptions.
2. Once ACPT qualified; support checking of clinical trials prescriptions.
3. Setup of assigned clinical trial studies.
4. Follow site procedure accurately and promptly.
5. Liaise with Clinical Research Associate/Organisation (CRA/CRO) to fulfil workflow tasks needed for each assigned study in setup.
6. Follow up in a timely manner on all queries with Clinical Research Associate/Organisation (CRA/CRO).
7. Efficient production of study site file documentation.

Qualifications / Training Required
Essential
* Registered pharmacy technician in UK by GPhC / registered Science Manufacturing Technician in UK by the Science Council.
* Numerate and literate e.g. GCSE in Maths and English A* to C or equivalent or IELTS test score 7 as required by GPhC if overseas candidate.
* One of the following additional pharmacy qualifications: Accredited Checking PT (ACPT), Pre and In Processing Checking (PIPC), TAQA assessor, CIPS level 4, foundation management or equivalent demonstrable experience of day-to-day operational management of staff and workload.
* Experience of staff management/operational workload supervision.
Desirable
* Completion of Practice supervisor programme or equivalent.
* Additional pharmacy qualifications e.g. Completed APTUK Foundation Framework Foundation management or other recognised management qualification or demonstrable management experience.
Previous or Relevant Experience Necessary
Essential
* Accurate dispensing of medicines (in hospital or community pharmacy or aseptics).
* Maintaining continuous professional development portfolio.
* Dealing with customers/patients.
Desirable
* Hospital pharmacy experience.
* Stock control/ordering experience.
* Experience of JAC or similar computer labelling/ordering system.
* Experience relevant to role applied for e.g.: Providing a ward-based medicines management service, Clinical Trials or research experience, Aseptic services experience.
