Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Oldbury
Shift: Double Day Shift
Overview:
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to work for our client at their facility in Oldbury. The role involves working within a dynamic team and will be focused on the development and implementation of new and improved manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment.
The role will also require you to supervise a small team of Operatives, monitor their skills, support with training where necessary, and ensure their focus is on supplying customer orders to the required quality level and in time to the production plan.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Plan, co-ordinate, lead, and participate in various multi-disciplined teams to address and fulfill company objectives associated with the Machine Shop.
2. Responsible for volume outputs, scrap/rework, quality, safety, and delivery commitments.
3. Run trials for new products.
4. Ensure that equipment and machinery are kept in good running order.
5. Recommend new equipment when and where necessary.
6. Use all Machine Shop machinery/equipment proficiently in conjunction with the Engineering Manager.
7. Organise and manage a team effectively to ensure the production plan is adhered to at all times.
8. Monitor the skills of the team and train your team where necessary.
9. Liaise with other departmental managers to ensure that all client deadlines are met in a timely manner.
10. Champion continuous improvement programs within the department.
11. Work independently and interdependently within various inter-departmental teams.
12. Follow the training received when using any work items given to you.
13. Take reasonable care of your own and other people’s health and safety.
14. Co-operate with your employer on health and safety.
15. Notify a supervisor or health and safety representative if you believe the work or inadequate precautions are putting anyone’s health and safety at serious risk.
16. Support the company with environmental initiatives and compliance issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. A minimum of 5 GCSEs including English and Mathematics, alongside an HNC in Engineering.
2. At least 5 years of experience in a machining facility, with a preference for those familiar with the steel industry.
3. Proficiency in CNC programming, especially in FANUC and Siemens controls.
4. Exceptional leadership skills, capable of motivating and training a team to meet production and quality targets.
5. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and manage tasks at all levels effectively.
6. The ability to read drawings successfully (CAD/CAM).
7. The ability to expose and solve problems in a manufacturing environment.
Location:
Based in Oldbury, with occasional travel to other business sites, customers, suppliers, or for training and conferences, offering a vibrant and diverse working environment.
