East Durham College is delighted to announce we are seeking to appoint a fully qualified counsellor/mental health therapist to join our well-established College Counselling Team. East Durham College's counselling/therapeutic service is an essential part of the services we offer to all our students to support them whilst they are studying with us. It's run by EDC staff for EDC students. All staff are fully trained professional counsellors or CBT practitioners. The post is part-time (18.5 hours/week) and term time (40 weeks). There may be an option to split the available hours between more than one suitable postholder. We are looking for a highly motivated, proactive and friendly team member to help deliver an effective college counselling service which meets the needs of students in line with the relevant code of practice and ethics. In this vital role you will provide high-quality, effective and professional counselling service to clients experiencing mental health difficulties, including clinical assessment, appointment service, counselling, signposting and support referrals to appropriate agencies. The role will also involve the opportunity to participate in the development and implementation additional college-wide mental health strategies, developing resources and undertaking reactive and proactive thematic work to address identified issues.
