Responsibilities Under the direct authority of the Global Head of Construction and in coordination with the local commercial head and other Regional Line Managers Team management Manage, organize, supervise and develop the EMEA Construction team in London, Paris and Zürich by maintaining and increasing excellence and leadership. Ensure talent and career management, personal development of the team members, perform assessment and annual appraisal of underwriters Actively demonstrate the SCOR P&C Leadership values. Act as a coordinator of the key contributors to the success of SBS Construction in EMEA being claims, operations, legal, innovation, risk engineering, actuarial supports and reportings. Promote internal risk management and ensure data quality and reporting to all our IT systems Segment and client Management Act as a technical practice, marketing and underwriting leader for Construction Projects and Annuals from London Market and Europe Middle East and Africa sources, for civil works, buildings, oil and gas, power and industrial segments. Manage the existing portfolio, endorsements, risk and client visits, client meetings, claims involvement and properly underwrite some key accounts and clients of the region. Maintain and enhance client relationship with historical SCOR clients in the region. Provide top quality leading service to our key clients in Construction when appropriate. Actively participate to the set-up of the underwriting plan for the region, including specific initiatives/business cases in coordination with the Global Construction Head. This includes identifying ways to develop new business, research, develop and report on news areas of profitable growth or potential. Be responsible for the delivery of the plan and the resulting profit for Construction in EMEA contributing to the success of the Global practice. Actively follow list of prospects in the Region Participating to broader group initiatives and projects. Adopt a solution-oriented customer centric view. Develop SCOR’s market share and leadership position. Marketing & Communication Lead and coordinate the marketing activity for Construction EMEA in coordination with other RLMs, the commercial and marketing team. Generate new offers and promote Scor Business Solutions by pro-active marketing in accordance with defined strategy and plan. Represent Scor Business Solutions and the segment at Regional industry forums, client hosted annual conference or client training sessions. Knowledge Management / innovation Spread knowledge and best practice in the team Stimulate initiatives and ideas Foster innovation in processes and products linking to international or local industry associations Qualifications Required experience & competencies Experience Established underwriter with 10 years of direct construction underwriting experience in the London market or elsewhere Proven underwriting skills including technical expertise and wording negotiation Good market relationships Established client relationships Experience of writing international business Reinsurance and Insurance knowledge Industry background in the construction industry would be appreciated, Civil engineering or mechanical engineering, or construction contract management. Competencies Sound technical knowledge of subjects associated to underwriting as well as a wider understanding of related legal, risk management, social and economic topics Knowledge of competitors, cedants, reinsurers and brokers within the London market and internationally Commercial and tactical vision Ability to successfully negotiate “face-to-face” with brokers Ability to lead business Ability to promote the underwriting policy Ability to use spreadsheets to a good standard Able to adapt well to SCOR structure and philosophy, which includes technical underwriting and technical referrals Ability to quickly acquire a thorough understanding of SCOR’s underwriting policy and guidelines Understanding of company computer systems Team player as well as capable of working on own initiative Proactive Strong verbal and written communication skills
