The Paediatric Department at Morriston Hospital, Swansea, are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join their team to undertake a 6-month Fixed term LAS ST Higher post. Post will commence 5th March 2025 until 2nd September 2025. Post is not able to be extended beyond this date currently. The post-holder will have the opportunity to gain experience in an area of paediatrics similar to that of other trainees in the department. The post will be predominantly ward based but with opportunity to attend clinics. The post will participate on the on call rota. The successful candidates will work together with the wider clinical team of Consultants, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Junior Doctors and other Allied Health Professionals to provide high quality, safe and effective clinical care. We are not able to sponsor candidates for GMC registration. Main duties of the job This post is aimed at ST Higher level. The post will start as soon as possible. The post-holder will have the opportunity to gain experience in Paediatrics. In addition to this, there will be specific responsibilities in relation to the Paediatric Assessment Unit, the Out-Patient Department, liaison with the Accident & Emergency Department and other specialties. We encourage uptake of training opportunities and will support relevant courses for the candidate's education and training needs. The post will be based in the South West Wales Cancer Centre, Swansea. The role will mainly be supporting the inpatient unit, in addition to providing medical input to the chemotherapy and radiotherapy units. Even though the posts will not be recognised for training the successful candidates will have the opportunity to attend teaching and participate in audit, quality improvement and research projects where possible similar to the Wales Deanery Trainees. The successful candidates will also have dedicated educational supervisor. These posts will participate on the medical on call rota and have similar responsibilities to the training grades. There is a study leave budget available and associated funding will be considered by the Medical Director Office and approved for educational opportunities.
