To support our progress, we are currently recruiting for a Production Team Leader to come and join our team at our Bedford site. The Production Team Leader is a fixed day pattern shift but can include early & late finish work activity to provide increased flexibility as required to suit factory needs. You will be expected to carry out a variety of production related duties to ensure that factory and group procedures are maintained. The Production Team Leader must provide the relevant cover for the Production Manager when it is required. Key areas of Responsibility: Ensure people and resources are employed and allocated in an efficient and effective manner to meet delivery requirements. Focal point for all shop-floor (including forklift driver) production issues. Collection and interpretation of production data as well as collection of downtime data and ensuring accurate reporting. Providing cover where appropriate to maintain maximum output of machinery. Ensure team members follow defined manufacturing procedures and comply with quality requirements. Ensure all allocated equipment is within specifications and conduct testing as required to ensure compliance, improve performance & reduce errors. Ensure the company escalation process is followed in line with standards and timescales. Monitor, manage and support all safety equipment, tools, H&S checks. Responsible for training of operators within your direct report. Monitor time and attendance (escalating any problems to management). Daily manage of all allocated safety & health related equipment to include but not limited to: (check sheets, compliance checks (fire extinguisher- fire escapes, LEV, mist air, First aid). Key Duties: Ensure effective communications within the production team and across all support functions within the business to maintain factory performance. Conduct resource management to ensure effective performance across the day shift pattern. Ensuring training, development & capacity building takes place in order to build in resilience across the production environment. Chairing daily shop-floor team meetings and deputising and supporting the Production Manager as required. Help in identifying improvements and completing activities to support the site continuous improvement plan. Encourage and promote team working, best practice and collaboration at all times. Manage a plan of improvement, waste & cost reduction in line with agreed plans. Subject matter expert / role model with a solid understanding of the plant operations and provide additional cover as required. The Production Team Leader is an important multi-functional role within the Factory Production leadership team. The Production Team leader reports directly to the Production Manager. The Production Team leader is responsible for motivating and developing their Production team to meet daily and weekly Factory Objectives.
