Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Nurse or Social Worker to apply for the band 7 Family Practitioner within Essex STaRS, working with the Essex Drug and Alcohol Partnership and Children’s and Families services in Northeast and West Essex. This role aims to deliver a more integrated approach to family interventions within drug and alcohol services, focusing on identifying and supporting the needs of the whole family.
The service targets families involved with Essex Children’s Social Care with additional needs related to drug and/or alcohol misuse. Its goal is to reduce substance misuse harms and improve family functioning, including parenting and safety, positively impacting health, social, psychological, legal, and criminal aspects.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder, employed by Essex STaRS, will work across EEC's Children and Family Services and Essex Drug and Alcohol Treatment Services, with responsibilities including:
1. Acting as an expert consultant to social care staff regarding parental substance misuse.
2. Supporting social workers in assessments and interventions with families where substance misuse is a key issue.
3. Raising awareness about the impact of substance misuse on parenting within social care.
4. Promoting effective communication and joint working between Children’s Social Care and Adult Substance Misuse Services.
