The students attending come from diverse backgrounds, some with significant social, emotional and mental health needs. The psychology graduate would be responsible for giving these children consistent support and coaching them on a 1-1 basis. Day to day tasks and challenges can be difficult to approach, which makes you a crucial part of these young students developing life skills and confidence. The school has professionals on site consistently to support the pupils, as well as provide guidance to the support staff which is an amazing opportunity for psychology graduates to see what kind of careers their degree could lead to.

The psychology graduate should be highly passionate about promoting students’ mental wellbeing and providing them with conistent encouragement with both academic and emotional challenges. Working in this SEN environment will be a highly rewarding and fulfilling for any psychology graduate, especially candidates looking to pursue a career in education, psychology or criminology. Working with children or experience in an education setting would be beneficial experience to have as an applicant but not mandatory. The ideal candidate would have achieved a 2:1 in their degree of a relevant subject.
