Brief Description
There is an exciting opportunity to join us in a role that is vital to our success. We are looking for an Operations Risk Control Co-ordinator to join our East Coast Safety team.
As an Operations Risk Control Co-ordinator, you will develop, plan and implement proposals based on risk to improve operational safety delivered in accordance with the relevant legislation and standards.
This is a 12-month secondment opportunity.
This role is office based with flexible working arrangements available. It involves working alongside 2 other Operations Risk Control Coordinators as part of the Operations Risk Team. Full training can be provided for the right candidate.
About the role (External)
Role and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
1.Plan, undertake, review and authorise quantitative and qualitative risk assessments, in accordance with the relevant standards.
2.Determine suitable and sufficient risk control measures supported by cost benefit analysis as appropriate.
3.Record levels of risk and control measures identified, providing the results to the relevant senior managers.
4.As required, act as the team’s principal contact with both internal and external stakeholders for specific areas of risk which may include; signal risk, operating irregularities, stations, route crime and workforce health and safety.
5.Attend signal-sighting committees, as required.
6.Support the delivery of route safety meetings, including Operations Risk Area Management (OPSRAM), Timetable Change Risk Assessment Group (TCRAG).
7.Prepare and carry out Signal Passed at Danger (SPAD) and irregular working risk ranking assessments within defined timescales and communicate the results to the designated competent person (DCP), as required.
8.Lead operational input into renewal / modernisation / closureprojects for inclusion in the business plan, taking into account operating requirements and risk mitigation factors.
9.Assist in the input to new signalling schemes, checking scheme diagrams to provide compliance with risk assessments and recommended mitigations, as required.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Are you?
·Good knowledge of railway operating principles, with particular reference to signalling principles
·Good knowledge of quantified and qualitative risk assessment techniques
·Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
·Experience of preparing concise, comprehensive and informative reports
·Demonstrate influencing skills
·Detailed knowledge of Railway Safety Principles and Guidance
Do you have?
·A recognised risk or health and safety professional qualification
·Member of the Institution of Railway Operators
·Previous experience in an operating, engineering, station or safety environment
·Good knowledge of human factors and public interface risks
·Experience of working with Excel and power Bi ()
