This is a fantastic opportunity to join our Level 3 Pharmacy Technician (Integrated) apprenticeship where you will gain hands on experience across all areas of our pharmacy service. Training will be completed through a combination of traditional academic learning where you will be supported to complete the theoretical and academic assessments and work-based learning where you will gain practical experience and develop professional skills and behaviours.
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will gain a formal professional qualification and be able to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician.

Main duties of the job
This post is based at either Musgrove Park Hospital or Yeovil District Hospital with allocated protected study time (in line with apprenticeship requirements). Throughout your training you will rotate into different areas of the department including Dispensary, Aseptic Services, Ward Services and Ward based Medicines Optimisation Services. Duties within these areas include:
Participate in the dispensing of medications against prescriptions for in-patients and out-patients
Stock management - ward top ups, expiry date checking, supply of medication to wards and departments
Manufacturing of aseptically prepared products in the pharmacy aseptic unit

Qualifications
Essential
1. 4 GCSE's Grade C or above 9 - 4, including Math and English or equivalent.
Desirable
2. NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills or equivalent
3. Science
Experience

4. Experience of dispensing medicine for patients
5. Experience in Aseptic production
6. Working as part of a multi-professional team within a clinical/ward environment
Additional Criteria
Essential
7. Good communicator, both verbally and in writing
8. Ability to work accurately in the face of frequent interruptions and under pressure
9. Flexible and adaptive with positive approach to change
10. Honest and trustworthy and able to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
11. Computer literate with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Email and IT software
12. UK resident or have held the right to remain & work in the UK for the past 3 years
13. Full UK Driving licence and will be willing to travel to university and placements
