Are you passionate about making a positive impact in a child’s educational journey? We’re seeking a caring and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Colchester. In this role, you’ll work closely with a child who has additional Special Educational Needs (SEN), supporting their academic, social, and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide tailored, one-on-one support to a child with SEN, adapting learning activities to meet their unique needs.
* Collaborate with teachers and SEN coordinators to deliver personalised learning plans.
* Build the child’s confidence, independence, and social skills through consistent emotional and practical support.
* Assist with classroom tasks, ensuring the child feels engaged and included in group activities.
* Monitor and document the child’s progress, sharing regular updates with staff and parents.
* Contribute to a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where every child feels valued.
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience working with children with SEN is highly desirable.
* A friendly, patient, and empathetic approach, with strong communication skills.
* A proactive and resourceful mindset, with the ability to handle challenges effectively.
* Flexibility to adapt to the needs of the child and the school environment.
* ️ An understanding of safeguarding practices (training available if required).
Requirements:
* ✅ A valid, up-to-date DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
* Relevant qualifications in education or SEN support are beneficial but not essential.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
