Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen to join CHoICE Facilities Services in the position of Maintenance Craftsperson (Joiner). Providing services on behalf of STSFT NHS Foundation Trust, CHoICE is an independent wholly owned subsidiary company which provides all hard and soft facility services at Sunderland Royal Hospital and associated sites. You will join a team of existing Building Maintenance staff directly employed to form part of the Estates Hard FM services within CHoICE. The Team provides planned/reactive building maintenance activities, an emergency on call service covering 365 days per annum as well as undertaking minor building related installations and building related minor works services. Expected earnings is not intended to provide a guarantee of earnings, this post is a salary range. The base salary range for this role is £28,303.00 £31,052.00. However, as the role will require the participation within an on-call rota and require the completion of overtime either as a result of call outs or during planned occurrences to meet the needs of the service CFS provides, additional monetary rewards will be generated as part of this role. The expected earnings presented within this advert have been established from actual earnings earned within the financial year 2024/25 to date, and are based upon similar roles within the organisation. The additional earnings are based upon an obtained average and it will be typical to earn approximately this amount. Main duties of the job The successful applicant must have a detailed understanding of construction processes in relation to joinery and other related building works in accordance with relevant statutory and mandatory legislation and best practice guidance. The role involves all aspects of Joinery maintenance and repair within an NHS setting. He/she must also be able to provide evidence of the completion/obtainment of recognised relevant joinery apprenticeship and ideally will have gained maintenance experience within a healthcare environment or similar, although this is not essential. You will be expected to receive identified workloads on a handheld device from the Estates and Facilities Help Desk and be expected to organise and prioritise these daily activities to ensure the tasks are completed in the most efficient and effective manner. Support and guidance will be provided where necessary to ensure CHoICE can fulfil its statutory and mandatory obligations. The role will also require the individual to have a flexible and positive approach to all activities and have the ability to deal with new scenarios as they arise.
