Wood is currently recruiting for Lead Instrument Designer (LID) to support across various high-profile projects in the UK. The LID will join our Systems Integration team within our Digital Consulting business. Our Systems Integration (SI) team operate across UK; therefore, the role can be based at any of the following UK offices; Aberdeen, Staines, Reading, Glasgow or Northampton on a hybrid basis. Please note applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check. LI-Hybrid The Role Due to growth across our SI business, we are looking for a Lead Instrument Designer in relation to upcoming project awards for 2025. We are seeking to speak with individuals who have previous experience in CAD Instrument Drafter within Automation and Controls projects. You will have the ability to solve complex technical challenges to meet the needs of your clients while being able to work with minimal direct supervision and have experience of taking site surveys. As an experienced Instrument Designer, you will work closely with the project Instrument Design Engineers to design all the instrument and control works assigned and ensure all drafting works are completed in accordance with the approved project schedule, standards and within allocated man-hours. Read and fully understand Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID’s), Loop drawings, ISOs, wiring and hook-up diagrams Demonstrates proficient skills in CAD utilizing client’s current version of AutoCad and Document Management Systems Demonstrates knowledge of ISA and Piping, Loop drawings, ISOs symbology Proficient in identifying in field; instruments, mechanical equipment and piping components Ability to apply client Engineering Standards as part of day-to-day technical support of assignments Ability to interpret Engineering mark-ups and accurately make drawing corrections Ability to field as-built P&IDs, Loop drawings, ISOs, wiring and hook-up diagrams relative to design of project scope and/or common field changes for Project Closures Qualifications Skills And Qualifications What makes you remarkable? Expected: Educated to HNC / HND or degree in a relevant engineering discipline or a chartered engineering & member of an appropriate institute Industrial experience working in; P&ID, Loop drawings, ISOs Drafting Proficiency in AutoDesk AutoCAD and MS products; Teams, Word, Excel and Outlook Previous site experience Experience of localised guaranteed non interruptible supplies Understanding of Fibre Optic systems Knowledge of CIMAGE & 4G Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills at all levels of the business
