The work of the Safety, Security and Licensing Authority Radiation Protection team is to develop Radiation and Radioactive Waste Policy and provide Radiation Protection and Radioactive Waste governance by following and developing processes. These ensure that RRSL is compliant with company standards and with requirements for operating 2 nuclear Licensed Sites at Raynesway Derby as well as external areas across Rolls Royce Submarines Ltd.

Rolls Royce Submarines currently has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Radiation Protection Adviser (RPAs), Radioactive Waste Adviser or Radiation Protection Specialist to join Rolls-Royce Submarines Limited (RRSL) in Derby.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. As a minimum we're all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.
What You Will Be Doing:
You will be working under the guidance of a Radiation Protection Manager working across operational facilities and Rolls Royce out stations:
1. Be part of a team dealing with the day-to-day operations across 2 Nuclear licensed sites,
2. Supporting the new build programme for operational facilities, with Radiation Protection and Radioactive Waste and Environmental Permitting Advice,
3. Developing standards and arrangements, for Radiation Protection Radioactive Waste Management and Environmental Permitting, Carriage of Dangerous Goods Class 7 and enforcing these across RRSL.
Who we are looking for:

1. A science-based degree or demonstrable equivalent experience.
2. Experience working within Health Physics, radiation protection or radioactive waste and environment.
3. Ability to use bespoke software applications is essential for the role.
4. Interpersonal and effective communication skills (both verbal and written) with team leader and other members of staff.
5. The ability to follow documented procedures and processes, ability to plan own work within job requirements.
6. Radiation Protection Advisor.
7. Chartered Radiation Protection Professional.
We are also interested in applications from Health Physicists who do not yet fulfil all of these requirements as training and development opportunities will be provided.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines business an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently have this in place.
