BeeU Services Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin (Children and Adolescent Mental Health) are excited to offer a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner role with our Assessment Pathway.
This role includes screening referrals within the team's operational framework during a shift coordinator role that will be expected one day per week. For the rest of the working week, it will include completing initial assessments for children and young people. Following assessments, you will be attending the multidisciplinary team meetings to identify the most suited outcome/intervention for the young person.
The role will require a good understanding of mental health, assessing and managing risks while working within a supportive multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
You will be involved in the delivery of a high standard of Mental Health Care to Children/Young People who have been referred to the service.
* Your role as a shift coordinator will entail screening referrals to establish if they are urgent, crisis, or routine. Taking calls from professionals and parents/guardians when there are possible concerns around mental health and risks.
* Work within the guidance of the service-wide operational framework alongside the Thrive Model to identify stages of care needs - signposting, assessment, and discharge.
* You will be required to complete face-to-face urgent assessments and routine assessments and then discuss the outcome within the daily MDT outcome meeting and identify the most appropriate treatment/intervention.
* The documentation that is required within the role is expected to be of a high standard and completed within the correct timeframe as shown in the service's operational framework.
* You will be expected to provide supervision and mentorship to junior colleagues/students.

Person Specification
Skills
* Good Communication and IT Skills
* 1 year post-graduation experience of working within a mental health setting.
* Previous experience working within a Mental Health Setting.
* Experience of working with CAMHS

* Experience working in a mental health setting
* Experience of risk assessing and management
* Experience of working with Children and Adolescents Mental Health (CAMHS)
* Experience of liaising with professionals/other agencies and parents and guardians and have the ability to navigate difficult conversations in a professional manner.

* You will be registered with a core profession (RMN, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker)
